Housecall Veterinary consultations

Our services

Whether for convenience or necessity we bring top notch veterinary care straight to your door. Avoiding a busy clinic, extended wait times and stress for pet and owner are just some of the benefits of calling us for an at-home consultation.

Prevention is better than cure and keeping your pet up to date on their immunisations is a crucial step in protecting their health. The best way to ensure your pet is up to date is by chatting to us about what vaccinations, if any, your pet needs to build or maintain immunity to these deadly preventable diseases.

A recommended alternative to vaccination, Titre Testing measures the circulating antibodies (immunity) to the main diseases prevented by vaccination. This ensures that your pet only receives the vaccinations they need. It is very important to  avoid over-vaccination and the health complications that can result from this common practice.

Food is medicine! Many of our modern day conditions are linked to gut health and to the food our pets eat. Here at The Pet Vet Animal Services we advocate for Fresh Food Diets and can provide tailored advice to ensure you are meeting your pets needs while giving them variety, healthy nutrients and the food they need to thrive, not just survive.

Behaviour is one of the most challenging problems for pet parents to manage. Whether it be a training issue or mental health we are able to help develop a plan to improve the wellbeing of your pet and strengthen your bond through tailored behaviour advice, and medications when appropriate.

Ear infections, rashes, food allergies, contact allergies, itching, scratching, licking and parasites – every pet at some stage will need some help with a skin condition! While some pets just have a one-off issue, for many it is a life long journey of management, trial and error and discovery. We recognise the frustration, and dedication that it takes to manage a skin condition and will be there every step of the way to help formulate a plan to get the best management for your individual pet. We have some different tricks up our sleeve as well and haven’t met a pet yet that hasn’t benefited from our unique approach.

Getting the right diagnosis is often crucial to developing the most effective treatment. Thats why we use a host of in-house diagnostic tests to piece together the puzzle pieces. We also have access to world-class animal-specific laboratories for all your advanced testing needs.

It is an awful feeling when a pet goes missing, even for a minute. One of the best defences against losing them forever is making sure your details go with them everywhere. Microchipping involves the implantation of a very small chip under the skin so that wherever your pet ends up they can be scanned and reunited with you as soon as possible.

Diabetes is a tough condition to manage – especially for owners who have to make some big adjustments to keep their diabetic pet healthy. Lucky for you and your pet, we have a great track record when it comes to helping owners become confident and comfortable with managing this condition. There are many facets to diabetes and a plan as individual as your pets presentation is needed to get the best outcome. Together we will discuss diet, lifestyle, family requirements, temperament, other health conditions, goals and capabilities to come up with a plan that works for the whole family.

Our hope is that every pet lives long enough to get arthritis! Natural wear and tear will inevitably lead to changes in the joints that causes pain and mobility issues. But just because it is ‘normal’ doesnt mean it can be ignored. Active management of arthritis is the best way of slowing its progression and controlling the pain so that you pet can continue a care free life. Furthermore, unfortunately for many, many pets arthritis comes too early in life due to lifestyle, injury and confirmation – and it is doubly crucial to get these guys onto a dynamic arthritis management plan to ensure their quality of life is maintained for as long as possible.

We know, we know….every year you go to the vet and are told your pet is overweight and you need to decrease their food. And every day they look at you with hungry eyes and it is just too hard to resist!! Well I am very glad to tell you that we have great success in taking these ‘weightless failures’ and helping them to get fit, active and add years to their life. Whether you have a chonky cat or a rotund dog we are well prepared to develop a straight-forward diet plan that with commitment will have them at healthy weight before your next yearly visit! And best of all, it’s our top priority to keep them satiated too, so minimal hungry eyes!

The diagnosis of cancer is devastating. There is no getting around it, it is awful, for all involved. Here at The Pet Vet Animal Services we have worked hard to develop knowledge from around the world that we use to develop a holistic cancer care plan. We will take the time to discuss findings, prognosis, decisions and all relevant considerations so that you can make the most informed choices for your pet. Resources at hand include specialist referral for oncology services, acupuncture, traditional chinese medicine, herbal medicine, massage, selected chemotherapy/anti-cancer therapies and advanced pain management plans. Whether you want to fight with all you have or try to simply get as much good time as possible we are there for you and your pet on the journey.

Like humans, it is very common, whether it be through age or disease, that animals will have a period of time where they need extra TLC to live out their days comfortably. Many people find this time an important giving-back to their pet in thanks for the years of friendship and love exchanged. Your pets needs are individual and so we tailor an individual plan to suit them. Features of this plan include pain management, at-home quality-of-life assessments, practical tips on care giving, bucket list planning, crisis kits, and regular check ins and ongoing support.

Saying goodbye is hard. We know first hand the grief and sorrow that comes with losing a pet. It is our hope and intention to make this tough and sad time a little easier through providing respectful, meaningful and caring euthanasia at home. Your pet will be comfortable in their familiar surroundings, and you can be right there with them. There is no rushing, no time limits, and no separation from you..only what you and your pet need in that moment.

Aftercare (cremation, memorials, keepsakes) can also be arranged.

what makes us different

Communication

We empower owners with all the information they need to be active participants in their pets care. We want you to feel confident in the health care plan we will develop together.

Individualised Care

Your pet is an individual and should be treated like one. No standard plans or 'one size fits all' approaches here. Each pet is given the time and attention required to develop a health care plan that fits their individual needs.

At-home Consultations

Anxious pet? Mobility issues? Busy schedule? We take the stress out of vet visits by coming to you! No longer are we the scary vet but instead the friend that arrives at the door with treats!

Fear Free Techniques

All of our staff have had extra training in how to minimise fear in our patients during their veterinary visit. While this takes more time and patience, it is our job to do what we can to help you and your pet feel as stress-free as possible.

Prescriptions

We know looking after your pets is expensive and we try to help with that by offering prescriptions for ongoing medications wherever possible. This can ease the financial burden of chronic disease significantly.

Integrative Medicine

Our training in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Herbalism, Acupuncture, Natural Medicine and Holistic Veterinary Care allows us to offer options beyond regular western medicine. Our patients get the best of both worlds.
